"Norwegian director Bent Hamer’s new feature, which has not yet been released in Norway, enters the race for the Oscar nomination as Best Foreign-Language Feature Waiting for its world premiere in the Masters sidebar at the Toronto International Film Festival, which runs between 4-14 September, Norwegian director Bent Hamer’s new feature 1001 Grams (1001 gram) was yesterday (3 September) named Norway’s official candidate for the Oscar nomination as Best Foreign-Language Feature.
“1001 Grams stands out with a clear international profile – in Hamer’s unique way it depicts sorrow, love and the small and big challenges of life,” said Chairman of the Norwegian Oscar Committee, managing director Sindre Guldvog, of the Norwegian Film Institute. “It is a compelling addition to Hamer’s impressive filmography that has previously represented Norway internationally.”
